I haven't been posting all the days that I HAVE been riding to work today, so figured I'd make up for it by posting today, the day I did NOT ride to work. It got COLD all of a sudden! It was in the 40's when I left this morning, but even more to the fact that I didn't ride was I was tired and groggy when leaving, felt out of sorts, so I made the decision to cage it today...

Besides, I haven't put a battery tender on the cage yet, so I still need to drive it every once in a while at least!

The best part of riding to work is wandering this way and that when you're more or less heading to where you are going. Amble on. Amble on.

I headed home, by way of the bar, last night in the rain. It was nearly cold but not unbearable. This morning was damp but not bad. I think the rain will clear out before I head home tonight. Hopefully my gloves will be dry. My office currently smells like wet leather which is not pleasant.

Ride to commute, commute to ride.

I have been riding every work day this fall. Today was the first 36 degree morning. It was a bit of a shock but I remembered how to take deep breaths and keep on riding.

Crisp, 40 degree morning, but the sky was clear (as far as I could tell. It was still dark.  uglystupid2) and there was no wind (well, except for that which was in my face  coolsmiley).

Lookin' forward to the ride home in what's supposed to be near 70-degree temps. Probably won't see many more days like that this year in our neck of the woods.   Cry

One of my former students emailed me and asked how to winterize his motorcycle. He's riding a ninja. The last time he tried to crank it it took forever to warm it up and then was a colder ride than he wanted. He's ready to put his ninja away for the winter. Sadly, I had to admit that I can't help him. I've never winterize mine. I Just keep riding. Oh well.

40s but dry so far here. Clear skies across the area. It should be nice. It is a shame that I'll be trapped in a building while the weather warms up to the mid 70s. By the time I leave tonight it will be dark and cool again.  Still fun.

While snowtober is gripping the north east, I'm still riding down in NC. God bless the south. It is 32 degrees this morning and not warming before I head out, but it is dry and clear. The clouds do look like snow but I'm trying not to think about that. They aren't calling for it so hopefully we won't be surprised.

I don't have  heated vest either.

My leather pants have a seam ripped out. Yet another summer where I didn't think to have that fixed. Yet another winter where I wish I did.

I feel for you fellows already into the thirties.  This morning was a toasty 53 for me.  Yesterday was 40 and it surprised me how cold it seemed.  I stopped on the way in to change gloves.

I ride every day, but alas I am still riding the 07 Wing.  The IS is still in the paint shop.  I think painters are more "artists" than they want to admit.  Faring/tank/trunk lid is all I am waiting on to get my baby back!   tickedoff

BUT, the weather has been in the 50's on the way in and the 80's on the way home...  Smiley  Can't beat that with a STICK!

Vests keep your hands warm?  Cheesy

I've had cold weather riders whom I respect tell me, "If you keep your trunk warm the hands will stay warmer."  I've also had some tell me, "If you keep your hands warm, your body will be warmer."

I guess the lesson to be learned is that your blood flow will warm better the cold parts of your body if some of your body doesn't need so much help.

Seems it would make sense to have more and better flowing blood?

I left work last night and discovered it was raining. By the time I made it across the parking lot to the bike it had stopped. The ride home was surprsingly warm and clear. It was also a tad longer than it needed to be. I would have ridden home either way, but sometimes in the cool rain I pick the shortest route.

This morning looks like rain, but it was dry enough to take a meandering path. I made it to work as the sun was coming up. Luckily, I'll leave after lunch today.

It has been a long week. I've kept long hours, and had to chase myself from meeting to meeting all week. Oh well. It's another week almost over. Luckily, the rain held off all week, which made the 30 degree mornings comfortable.

Commute to ride, ride to commute.

On the wing again.  37 when I left the house and by the time I got to work (around all the concrete) it was up to 49.  Very nice ride in.

Rode to work this morning. 29*F on the way in. 40*F on way home. I even ran an errand to the bakery during lunch break. Gotta love saddlebags.
How come the afternoon drags by so slowly every day that I ride in?

Wanted to ride to work today, but was put on layoff two weeks ago, so I went to the gas station, put Startron in & filled up. Went to the car wash to prep for Rustoleum application on the undercarriage. Rode home, put the fork deflectors on and cleaned up leaves. Don't know if & when I will ride to work again. Prior to the lay off, I rode to NO work almost every day. That's where they have you show up, look for work, network, check out available jobs, work on your resume, etc. until it's time to go home. Being on layoff is less stressful than going to NO work. I do miss the commute, though. Enjoy yours!

Probably had my last ride to work of the year today.  45 or so when I left the house at 5am, almost 60 on the way home!  Very unusual in upstate NY to ride this late in the season.  I'll probably put it away this afternoon.  *SIGH*  Spring, where is thy sting?

Due to various reasons today was my first day in 2 weeks to ride to work.

Got my electric undies on (it was 30 degrees here at 4 am), got the chaps & jacker.

Got on the bike - rode 5 miles (out of a 42 mile commute), clouds of smoke envelope me when I get to a red light (past 5 lights previously all green - great timimg for once).

Look down - right side of bike (and me ) covered in oil. A hole where my oil filler cap goes.

Needless to say - ride back home, switch to the truck (and different pants & shoes).

(lots of nasty works in my mind - at myself for nottightening the friggin' plug when I changed the oil 2 weeks ago after my last ride!)

grrrrr

I rode to werk today, though it was 31 deg F when I left the house.  I chickened out and rode the Wing with heated grips and seat.  To my defense, I have been sick lately and probably shouldn't have ridden in, but the truck was leaking tranny fluid yesterday, so I dropped it off at the shop last night.  Looked like the front seal on the tranny...  Sad

Gonna be a lot better ride home this afternoon!

36 this morning and rode the Valk!  Man it was cold with just my Joe Rocket jacket, fleece under jacket, and fingerless gloves.  My ride is only 18 miles and most of it is -50 mph, so it's not too cold.  But today, as you would know it, I caught all of the lights Green when I was hoping for a couple of Red ones to let my hands warm up a bit.  But I made it and this afternoon it is supposed to be 65 for the ride home.
Can't wait!  Can't Wait!

36 this morning, piece of cake, but I would have put on my heated gear if my remote heat-toller wasn't on backorder.  Still it was a comfortable ride, never got that cold.  I saw another commuter out this morning, still dark.  On the way home 3 sportbikers were out cruising.  I came up to an intersection, waved as I turned, and drove away.  I thought they were following me, but never saw them.  Came up to a turn toward home and there they were.  They had gone a different way, but ended up in the same place.  My way was more curvy... I bet people think I'm nuts dodging manhole covers.  crazy2

Yesterday and today rode to work, tomorrow will make three in a row.
Early mornings before the sun and much traffic. Like Willow, I used the summer gloves for the ride home, middle 60s this afternoon.
