Rode to check on a couple things, one jobe related, the other not and took the long way home. 60+ degrees. Most perfect day to ride.

I get to ride back to work today. I've had more days off than days of work in January. I'm getting spoiled to that, but I do miss the commute to work some days. The sun is finally up enough that I can ride to work this morning without the sun in my eyes which is good because I already have headache and I haven't even left the house.

36 degrees at the moment. High of 60 degrees. Chance of rain. Nearly 8:00a.m. I'm off to work.

Commute to ride, ride to commute.

I'm here! Riding a Valk today too. I'm as good as gold for this thread today. 34 and the fog just wont go away this winter. We've had fog near or below freezing temps for two weeks now??

I have an urge to ride a long ride soon. Where shall we go?

Because I only get to work three days a week I am only getting to commute three days a week. When I am sitting at home not working I am starting to appreciate the days I get to work. So that's a plus. Then they throw in holidays and let me have even more days off and I think I'm about to go crazy.

Shessh.

Hopefully next week I can start the sideline gig and fill those other two mornings with work, potential paycheck, and as importantly commuting. I'm not sure I was designed to sit around the house.

But today I was able to hop up, fight the computer in the living room a little bit as if it is a home office, then head to work about 8 am. It was around 33 degrees which feels warm compared to the 12 degrees of last week.

I made it in to work only slightly damp and early enough to dry out. I went from one location to the next (a short hop) still dry and even warmer. Not a bad day at all so far.

I think I will go grab some lunch in a few minutes. That will be a nice addition to the day. Probably somewhere cheap and fast and not neccessarily anywhere good.   Oh well.

Ride to commute, commute to ride.

After an ice covered driveway since christmas, I was finally able to get to the street and took a 40 mile ride at 34 degrees, with fog and drizzle and sand hazards everywhere.  It sucked, but it was still better than not riding.  Besides, the fat lady needed the exercise, and I needed the therapy!  Hoser

Thanks, Raymond, no ride this week at all, found arcing from loose negative battery terminal connection melted the terminal.  Year old battery, but at least I found it at home instead of out on the road. New one is downstairs. Looks like high 50's with rain on Monday, may give it a shot. Thanks, Hoser, at least I  don't have to worry about putting the kickstand down...

Rode the last few days... Love my commute, 30 miles of industrial dodge ball each way... I know it's dangerous, but it give me an adrenalin rush every time...

Alas, in the next few weeks I'm gonna be switching to purely working from home... DEFINITELY has it's plus sides, but I'll occasionally miss my commute...

...won't miss the $60 every two weeks in TOLLS though!!!

Rodw yesterday captain, South to the Chanute vicinity, backroads, took us 75 back to toepicker, went fast, got cold, 22 mph north wind in my face.   Most enjoyable, once I rode into the heated garage.  Never saw another bike.  Hoser  cooldude

well it could be better. My boots are dry, but they still smell like the brick dust I washed off of them this morning. They are reminding me of spending 12 hours trying to tunnel down through my fire place to run a 1/2" line for the decorative gas logs.  Now that I'm here I'm calling my wife (she has a day off) and so far I've managed to stub her toe and probably something else by now.

At least the weather is good. Work is work. Nothing inspiring happening. I stopped by Roses and found two pairs of dress pants in my size which is good because mine are starting to wear. It is supposed to rain for most of the week, now at least I know I'll have dry pants to start each day.

Blue skies after the storm yesterday. 50 degrees when I left this morning and probably even better now. Can't complain about the riding.

I rode that big bad trike yesterday, high 50's with drizzle. Rode her again today, in the 40's, nice crisp air on the way home tonight. Friend is taking my car to the garage for the inspection sticker & oil change, so it looks like I'll just have to bite the bullet & ride again tomorrow. Nice to have a good battery and uncracked pods. Yes, Raymond, I have been smiling mightily and hope you and everyone is doing the same!

wooohooo.  Grin Rode from Kinsey to Samson to check a potential customer's water. Looks like I'll be setting him up with some equipment pretty soon. Also rode to a meeting tonight about 10 miles from the house. 62 for a high but with 20mph winds  cooldude which made it all the more fun.

About half way to work today it occured to me that I hadn't checked to make sure my briefcase was in my saddlebag. Oh well. To late to worry about it then.
I remember cruising down the road and spotting a man bundled up in a jacket and a hat shaking as he smoked a cig and walked a dog. I thought to myself, "24 degrees might be to cold to go out and smoke, and I sure wouldn't want to have to take a dog out on a day like today." Then it occured to me that I was cruising down the road on my motorcycle, which many people tend to question. So to each their own.
The sun was coming up and beautiful in the blue sky. The winds have abated. But at 24 degrees it was a cold sunny day. Luckily I was wrapped up and wearing decent gloves and didn't suffer a bit.
Commute to ride, ride to commute.
Off to the next campus and back across the road I go!

Same happened to me this morning. I passed a fellow worker heading across town, he had a full parka with his head covered and looked cold. He lives 8 miles further out then me so I knew his car was warmed up. Then I gave him a wave and thought "This Joe Rocket Comet jacket works pretty good." HAHA

Yes each to there own.

I rode RHonda's bike "Bert" today to keep him charged so it was like riding a hotrod Valk!.

Where you at Oldswimr? How far is the ride in for you?

Do you still swim? I'm currently doing  4 to 4.5 miles per week in the lap pool as part of my "Y" gym routine.

I rode.  TWC promised 20F but the displays were showing 14 to 18. This may well be the coldest morning I've ridden into work.

About halfway to Lawrence I thought I saw another two wheeler but it turned out to be a cage with one light missing.

Come on, Spring!  (Groundhog day is just around the corner, isn't it?)

Awesome ride in this morning, I didn't even tuck my britches into my boots - it will be over 60 degrees today, a lunch ride is in order.

Spring must'a dun sprung down here. Perfect day except for the two bugs I caught up with today. 60+, very light breeze and over 150 miles calling on a customer. First time customer, I pull up for what should be a 30 min. stop and two hours later talking bikes, I take the long way home.  coolsmiley

I am going to be 3 out of 5 for the week!  Been in the low 50's at night and up to 70 during the days.  Only made it to 66 today, but man it was good.  Storm coming tonight so no ridie tomorrow.  Gotta go out and do some audio/video stuff for our awards breakfast this Saturday.  My wife has been with the same company as me for 20 years.  I just made 27 years January 23.

Ride safe out there,

Yesterday I rode to my part-time tutoring gig. I spent most of the day sitting and did very little with the four hours, but they are paying so I'm not complaining. After work I had to run errands and find the last few remaining pieces to the gas logs that my wife is making me put in. I was nearly ran over by a screeching volvo that started  braking to late. It was a car full of kids not looking where they were going. Luckily when she did see me and lock her brakes I heard it and instinctively pulled forward to hug the corner of the truck in front of me. She wound up stopping where I had just been sitting waiting for the red light to go green.

Fun.

But it was 60 degrees so otherwise I had little to complain about.

I stopped by the gas station and he asked me if I was ready for the snow. Yup. It was 60 yesterday, and this morning it is a brisk 33 with promises of 2-4" of snow. Seems like quite a leap. The guy at the gas station says this is what being in Ohio was like. 60 one day and snowing the next.

So far so good. The weather isn't supposed to really get interesting until later this evening. So today I rode to work again (5 for 5 finally since I'm back working 5 days a week) and should make it home without any weather related incidents.

Commute to ride, ride to commute.

For the first time in a long time, I actually rode my bike to work this morning.  cooldude This is only the 2nd time I've had it out since December...the last time I rode it to work at lunch time.  It was 32*F this morning when I left and heading to 37*F with a few flurries...I hope it's only flurries  uglystupid2.  For my relatively short ride to the office (8 miles) it really wasn't that bad.  But I'm ordering Gerbings gloves and jacket liner today.  www.grandprixmotorsports.com is running a deal where you hit a button to get a coupon code by email.  And then they send you the code, which is good for 24 hours, and it is good for about 20% off!  That's a great deal!!  The only problem is that they are saying that most of the gloves are on back-order and to expect about 4-6 weeks for delivery.  But for this kind of deal, I'm ok with that.  cooldude

I made it in today. Was the first bike in and don't expect 2 many more. Light rain and mid 40's will have an affect for most. Beats riding in the garage!  2funny
Bob, I got the jacket liner, GL T5 glove, dual control, and case for it recently. Love the liner but expected more heat in the gloves. The gloves only have 27 watts where the liner has 77 watts. They are still better than no heat in the gloves.  cooldude You can do your warrenty info online wth them with in 30 days from purchase. Glad I got them.

I was also going for the T5 gloves, but I considered the G3's because they are a good bit cheaper.   But the T5's look warmer and appear to have longer gauntlets.

Do I need to get the case for the controller?  Is it worthwhile?  It's only about $11.

Also, do I need any other connectors, splitters, etc. to hook this system up?

I picked the T5's for the gauntlets and all around weather protection. The liner and gloves come with there own battery hook up and inline fuse. All you need is one and you'll have an extra for another bike. Just hook it up to the battery and run the other end to where you want to plug the controler into. I have it coming up between the tank and seat. When I'm not using it I can slide it down to the side and hide it under the seat. The case makes it easier to use. I just clip on the side pocket of the leather jacket. If I had a tank bib, I would clip it to that. The controler has 3 leads. 2 of them will plug into the inside of the liner near the bottom, left of the zipper. The other lead is for power. That mocro wire is great. Instant heat on that liner. Gloves take a little longer. Cool

Sounds good Bob. I order mine from a gerbings dealer out of Fl. who had everything in stock and got it with in a week. Don't know if he does the coupons but you can ask. Just another source for ya. Here is his link http://www.shangorider.com/HomePage/Level2Index.html
