You folks that favor Gay marrage are telling us that dont that you will be proud if your sons or daughters choose this route, how about your grandkids.  It is a slippery slope you are approving of.  Us Christians have been in a full scale war defending our reigious beliefs.  Family values are at stake here, and our kids are impressionable.   Like it or not, it was Eve that God make for Adam, not Evan.  If anything goes, what will happen when someone decides to marry their sons or daughters, or brothers or sisters decide to marry.  How about animals.   If we want to survive as a society we have to have standards.  You talk about gay rights, but they have the exact same rights as I do, to marry someone of the opposite sex.  What they want is some specal rights designed to accomidate their desires.   And re above I do tithe + and find it no hardship at all.   The gays are pushing an agenda that tells our children that gender doesnt matter, and it is being taught in some schools now.  There is no end to what they want our society to change to, and every victory they have pushing their agenda is never enough.   I do not hate or even dislike gays, I do pray for them, and do disapprove their lifestyle.  Man and woman were designed to procreate, and start familys that last down through the years. To build heratages that are handed down with pride from father and mother to son and daughter.  its simple really, but some feel its cool snd superior to be enlightened and above the basic truths.

No .I asked the valk to point me in the right direction ,that didn't help either
Well, just to let ya know ... praying don't help much either.

Clark had a valid point...........why stop at a same sex marriage?
What would the liberals say about marriage and sex with a goat, dog or good looking sheep.
They have feelings too.
Would the argument then be that you can't go out of your species?
Were does it stop............and why stop there?

I hear that argument all the time and with all due respect (which is essentially NONE) it's idiotic. It's not-so-vaguely suggesting that gay people are not human and that it's a step outside the bounds of human-on-human relationships, though it would not surprise me if you tried to argue that too. It's not as if that opinion hasn't been expressed by Nazis and Muslims.

Mister Master Blaster, if my daughters decide to start batting for the other team then I will lament. Not because I don't love them but because I know there are people out there like Gangman who will look down on them without even knowing them. But I would rather my child be openly gay and happy than closeted and having to suppress or hide something as fundamental as their sexuality. That's a hell I feel no one should have to suffer through.

Gangman

 I agree to a point.....

I don't know of anywhere that prohibits marriage between 2 consenting (Man Woman)parties..... and understand the law of marriage...

So if someone finds a goat, dog, or sheep that can sign a marriage certificate and is consenting...then I say go for it....

How ever because there are already laws against animal cruelty amost cant even hold a pen I dont see it happening.... Smiley

But in most states you can leave your money and property to a goat, cat, dog etc already......

Chris,

BTW i do understand the Bible, have read it several times and spent a good portion of my youth in Lutheran classes and school.. Just been a long time since I've read it and don't  know it verbatim. I have also read the Q'uran (how ever you want to spell it..)  I have also spent time in Synagogue and have been to Buddhist and Hindu Temples... not my cup of tea, but wanted to know what it was like.....

I guess I just don't interpret the Bible as you do....

And by your prior statement, you don't have a problem with states allowing gay marriage as long as they don't force churches do perform them...... well cant happen...(Church n State...Remember?)... and none of the states that have ratified it have anything that even suggests churches HAVE to (but many do)...... so basically you have no real reason to not allow this to become law??????

SO by your own words...... what's the problem with fellow Americans trying to exercise their advantage of living in a free country????? So what if they go to Hell.... not your problem. (Yes I know that part of most Churches/Teachings is to help save sinner even if they don't want to)

Once again I respect your opinion, it's just not mine and many others in several states.... and countries...etc...

Regardless of your opinion of the Bible its clear what God's position (as addresed in his Word)

Each of us may have different feeling about the whole gay marriage thing, and homosexuality in general......thats ok, we dont have to agree

BUT

Its not the governments job to legislate morality, they are just pandering for votes anyway.

The only solution is to replace as many of them as possible with a-political (ok, LESS political) servants and let America be free again, free from a huge government trying to get in your pocket, your refrigerator your TV, your car and your bedroom!

It's entertaining that this debate always leads to a discussion of beastiality as though gay marriage will lead to rampant moose raping.

I would not have a problem with my son or daughter being a homosexual or marrying someone of their own gender.

Where does the right of Christians to force their viewpoints on others end?  Have you heard of the Westboro Baptist Church?  People who behave in that way (even on a smaller scale) give all religious people a bad name.  Now, The Westboro Baptist Church is operating within their Constitutional rights but they're still evil douchebags.  Maybe excersizing your right to force your morals on others makes you an evil douchebag too.

I understand that Christians believe that homosexuality is a sin.  They have every right to that viewpoint.  They do not have the right, however, to harass others who do not share their views/beliefs.

Chrisj's CMA writes, quote:
"... I wont tell you youre inferior in any way for not believing.  We are all gone astray and unworthy......
no human is righteous on his own without Jesus.  Having God inside is the only righteousness a Christian can claim,
we dont deserve it but that is what grace is all about.

Grace, true forgiveness, SALVATION..."

Chrisj's CMA;
In your first sentence you tell us "... I wont tell you youre inferior in any way for not believing...." Smiley
In the next sentence you tell us: "... We are all gone astray and unworthy... we dont deserve it..."  Shocked Cry Embarrassed

Well, I realize that you are a believer and I won't tell you that you're inferior for believing.
But when you talk about gone astray and that we all are unworthy and that we don't deserve it, that is
an all-inclusive proclamation on your part that includes us all.

If you have gone astray and feel unworthy, those are symptoms of clinical depression.
However, if you deny that you are clinically depressed, then don't confuse your righteous opinions with non-facts.  ???

Speaking for myself, I have not gone astray (well, can't anymore). I do not think of myself nor of you as unworthy...
although others might do. But, (rhetorically) what have you done that makes you feel that awful? Embarrassed Cry police

I have read many of your posts wherein you don't sound unworthy; much to the contrary. Wink

I have read many of your posts where yes, you've gone astray... far, far out there... tickedoff

As for SALVATION. Yes, there have been many times when I wish somebody had been there to save me from myself...
from buying another toy that I don't need. cooldude

Frankly, I rather follow the words of a former POTUS who does not care 'bout who marries who.
He's too old for

Remember: "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" With a separation of church and state here, we shouldn't pass a law denying people their unalienable rights as a human. If our personal beliefs don't agree, then teach and preach in the home and church. Make it your family value but not a Federal law.

Chrisj CMA;
I know we disagree at some level and I'll get to that.

But first,
I want to acknowledge, praise and encourage your respectful, level-headed response to my post.
I wish we could all discuss issues in a respectful manner.

Moreover, your response shows more respect for me than my statements did towards you.
It's called "emotional intelligence" and you Sir, are well equipped. Thank you.

DISAGREEMENTS:
I just read my comments to you again and your reply, of course. In a way, neither can I begin to respond. ???

Notwithstanding the disagreements, these quoted words brought good memories.
I could not count how many times I've said the same words to others. Shocked

In closing...
I made my original statements public. Therefore, I thought it fair to make this one public as well.  ???

I truly appreciate your invitation to PM you but, at this time, I'll respectfully decline.
Thank you for your kindness. Lips Sealed

Your a little over the top on your assumptions about Christians.

Most don't harass homosexuals  ... In fact I know several homosexuals and we get along great.
We even have drinks together.

What this is is a thread about marriage and the various viewpoints on that topic.
I presented the Judeo-Christian viewpoint.

How does that translate into a call for hatred and harrassment ?
.. or even a accusation of a superiority complex.

My position has been clear .... every citizen has a right to voice their conviction on matters of law governing the society the live in.

As for the Westboro nutcases ... that is a clear case of Elitism

Elitism is a whole other topic ... and no group, organization, institution is immune to Elitism.

Elitism can be found everywhere ...  from Christian Churches to Motorcycle clubs.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER:

OBVIOUSLY, YOU MAY CHOOSE TO NOT PONDER OR COMMENT ON THESE QUESTIONS.
YES OR NO ANSWERS WOULD SUFFICE

A. Do you have an independent recollection of the instant when you decided on your volition to become either a Heterosexual,
or Bisexual or Lesbian... Civic-Minded-Homosexual, Celibate, Transvestite, a Drag Queen,
Transgender and / or
stay in the "Closet-Whatever"... etc?

MY ANSWER: NO

B. Have you ever felt harassed or teased because of your friendship with or because you belong or you are perceived to belong
to one or more of the above groupings?

MY ANSWER: Yes, too many times.

C. Would you rather not comment?

Homosexuals can marry each other in every state in the USA. There are Unitarian churches or synagogues that will perform the ceremony. What homosexuals really want is for the Federal government to make a special clarification about marriage so they can claim hate speach on anyone and everyone who doesn't approve of it.

If anyone who 'loves' another is the criteria for marriage, then anything goes. Father marrying a son, brother to brother, poligamy, no reason to stop at only two people, you name it it'll all be the same. Society falls yet again.

Yes, it's all about control. The very small but vocal gay population wanting laws passed so that the rest of society has to show approval.

You're absolutely right. Why even stop at just banning marriage for gays? I say we ban them from most things things that normal people take for granted. Seriously. If we let gays get a driver's license, why not let Fido have one? If gays can vote, what's next, the housecat gonna get his say, too? Personally, I don't think anyone should be able to marry. Think about it...if a man can marry a woman, what's to stop a father from marrying his daughter? We gotta nip this crap in the bud. Now.

Just curious
Why is marriage the holy grail of all gay and homosexuals? I understand the idea of civil rights and that has already been granted in most states. But this seems is not enough. If 2 people love each other then does marriage really count? I know plenty of heterosexuals that live happily together and consider marriage a problem. They have kids, houses, retirement and all the things that go along with it. So why? Or maybe is it the validation by the God instituted marriage or the validation of society to say your ok?

it isnt god they need aproval from its the state and ins. co.

RE: Reply #113
Would you disagree that the language and thought process of #113 is just a prank or a script of sorts... Undecided

John Huston could not have directed a better comedic script.  ???
What gives #113 away is the early 19-century values it displays and the twisted logic depicted on the script.  Lips Sealed

Chrisj CMA;

Suffice it to say that your past comments awoke my anger about church; and about religious-upbringing issues. tickedoff Cry
Conflicts that your comments articulated word-by-word... almost verbatim. tickedoff

I do feel poorly 'bout the callous and uncalled-for-language I directed at you, in anger. Embarrassed

QUOTE: "....However, if you are wrong you have everything to lose..."  Undecided

Notwithstanding the disagreements, these quoted words brought good memories.
I could not count how many times I've said the same words to others. Shocked

In closing...
I made my original statements public. Therefore, I thought it fair to make this one public as well.  ???

I truly appreciate your invitation to PM you but, at this time, I'll respectfully decline.
Thank you for your kindness. Lips Sealed
