Gentlemen,
Can you advise, I bought a beautiful Valkyrie in great condition sometime ago, but I see that the piggies are removed from the exhausts, I genuinely did not know that they were cut out, or screwed out. The original owner sold the bike for his late father who probably removed them.
My questions are, how do I get my hands on a set, how do i replace them, is there much to it.
I wear an open face helmet so the noise is a bit heavy after a while.I live in Ireland so I dont think I would get a set here
Any advice would be great

Some where here on the tech board I believe/think/hope I read about some one doing exactly what you are asking about. Little search here might find it. RIDE SAFE.

push some kind of rod that will fit down the piggy holes to determine if the original
owner drilled out your baffles... some people like that, but blegg, I hated it (mine came
that way)...

If it is just the piggys cut, you're in luck, MarkT can sell you some "piggy plates", left
over from his exhaust modifications...

If your piggy stubs are long enough, you can extend your piggys back out with
copper plumbing pipes and fittings, people say they're just the right size and work well...

Thanks boys, I have read somewhere that 1/2" copper pipe would do the trick. Does the end plate (covering) the baffles come away with screws do you know? and also, if the baffles are cut off flush can the copper be soldered onto the ends of the exhaust.

Everybody (including MarkT) thought this was a good way to install the piggy plates...

Have your rear baffles been drilled out too?

If you find your rear baffles are also drilled and wish to fix that, I did a fix useing muffler weld back in 2004 and it still is holding. Can be seen here. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,11870.0.html Near the bottom of the page.

My 2001 I/S piggies where trimed too just after the bent with just a about a 1in after bend so straght shoot out the back. So I went to http://www.bigbikethings.com/ExhaustTips.html  and asked him to make me some 8 in long and cut the ends flush, this way I would have them coming out the back by 3/4 in (i like the pipes coming out tail pipe looks like the old school bike pipes). He made the set for the same price as the normal ones said it would take a week as he would have to send them out for chroming (took Less & came from New Zeland!) - (normal 6in long with slash cut end). After getting I had to cut the middle ones to 7in due to bend in pipe. I JB weld in place and the jam setscrews. Had a problem with the pipes wanting to not center - so made a plate out of alum with 3 hole sliped over/in muffler to aline the chrome pipes and it was a grind to fit but will put JB Weld if they loosen up.

So if you go this route and have 1in of pipe left after bend make 2 1in shorter.

Now the Drone is gone and the pipes look go and more chrome to keep clean.

I cut my "piggies" off flush and did not like the new sound! To me, it sounded like I had a hole in the muffler.  My fix was that I removed the stock Standard/Tourer tips and replaced them with IS tips (That's all--still no piggies!) and the sound changed!!  I guess that the "swirling effect on the exhaust changed it's sound.  In any case it's good now.

Here is a link to how I replaced mine. They were cut off flush.

http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,35893.0.html

The last post in that thread has a link to some other ways to replace them including the piggy plates mentioned above.

Would you have any pictures of the end of your exhaust with the new chrome tips?  I have a 99 I/S and my piggies are the same way, trimmed right after the bend.

Thanks.
