HEADS UP PEOPLE. LAST WEEK I THOUGHT I HAD STRUCK PAY DIRT WHEN I FOUND A 1998 VALKYRIE STANDARD W/ ONLY 16 K MILES ON IT IN MINT CONDITION FOR ONLY $ 2,250.  THE SCAM ARTIST DUPED ME THRU EMAILS W/ A PHONEY AUTO TRADER VEHICLE PURCHASE CONTRACT TO WIRE THE MONEY THROUGH WESTERN UNION TO A PHONEY AGENT REPRESENTING AUTO TRADER.

THE SELLER WAS ADVERTISING OUT OF MIDDLETOWN RHODE ISLAND ON CRAIGSLIST. THE BIKE HAD BEEN POSTED FOR 20 DAYS. THROUGH EMAIL THE SELLER TOLD ME THE BIKE WAS IN PALM BAY, FL. BUT HE WAS ACTUALLY WORKING IN TUSCON AZ.

I BOUGHT THE SCAM HOOK LINE AND SINKER. I'M FEEL'N LOWER THAN A SNAKES BELLY RIGHT NOW.
IT WAS TOO GOOD OF A DEAL AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THEY SAY WHEN SOMETHING LOOKS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE.......
I BARROWED THE MONEY AND LOST IT. THE BIKE WAS SUPPOSEDLY GETTING DELIVERED FOR FREE TODAY.
IT'S GOONA BE A LONG TIME BEFORE I'LL EVER GET TO OWN & RIDE A VALKYRIE. crap ! Cry

like others said, that one if it is the same green and black, has been posted all over craigslist for a year or so.  Everyone else should beware.

I've seen that one in nearly every Craigs List I've visited all over the country. Whenever I see it, I flag it. There's also a black beauty of a 1800 Wing I first saw in the D.C. area CList...listed for well under $10k. The bike was only a couple years old so you know it's a scam. I sent an email along with a scam of my own and never heard back. Since then, I've seen it in numerous CL's all over the country.

Too bad CL doesn't have a money back protection policy like ebay. But it would seem to me if a person has been shopping and seeing what Valks are selling for, finding one for $2250 would automatically make a person wary. Sorry for the loss, it's a hard pill to swallow.

Well I waited all day for the delivery truck then called auto trader to see what the hold up was & they informed me how far I had my head up my arse, sympathetically of course but I've been thinking since last week I own a valk now and come monday she's in my garage.

I got calls in to the authorities here locally and Palm Bay where the $ was wired to cause someone had to pick it up using an address & photo id. Could 've been picked up anywhere & most likely wasn't any where near where I got info for.

I'm not holding my breath, definetely I'm not, & I'm not drinking over it either, but I gotta use what I have w/ the authorities right away so some other poor bastard doesn't take it on the chin after me.
I'm  out of work, & it's gonna take time to see straight after this. It aint even sunk in all the way yet.

And that, folks, explains why the scam keeps showing up again and again.

I'm sorry, Alias, that you got caught in this trap.  It's bad enough for someone to have his money stolen, but even worse to have his dream crushed.

Sad  Sorry for your loss, but what were you thinking??  This story says"SCAM"  from the very first sentence.  I would rate your chances of getting any $$ back as somewhere between nonexistent and a snowball's chance in hell.

Consider yourself lucky he wasn't offering it for $3,000.

I would suggest go ahead an have a couple of drinks as you think about it.

I've made two major purchases through Auto trader and E-bay. A $28,000 truck and a $16,000 Corvette. But I would never send the money to anyone for a bike, car, truck, ect. until I lay my eyes on it. The travel expense for the the two vehicles I bought averaged $5-600.00 and would have been more if I had to pass on the deals as I drove them back from Houston and OKC. I know a lot of people who have had successful long distance transactions but not this boy.

I sincerely hope that you have some success on your legal recourse.

I recently talked to a young guy that fell for a Craigs list SCAM that had a used bobcat skid steer  with 900 hours, and only two years old for $3,500,  probably a $25,000 machine new.

I felt really sorry for him, it set him back a whole year building his landscaping business.

Thanx guys.  As far as what i was thinking goes I wanted to believe I had a shot at owning my valk albeit the easy way, the cheaper way cause honestly I couldn't really afford it at that low price even. I rented a garage, I got insurance coverage for me & the bike.... I just thru myself into debt
cause I wanted a Valk.  I got stupid cause I got greedy...plain & simple.

I feel bad for you man. . .  Wow! I saw that bike about a year ago. It was advertised in Grand Rapids, Michigan; about 45 minutes from me. I e-mailed them and asked when/where can I see it. They wrote back with all that ‘bike is in Florida, I’m in Outer Mongolia and wire the money here and I’ll ship it free’ crap. At that point, I felt stupid for going as far as just sending an e-mail. So, I wrote back and told them I would give them an extra thousand but needed $500 in order to free up my money from a Nigerian account in a Chinese bank. They never wrote back.

Seriously; Sorry you fell for this scam. It must really hurt! Hang in there though. A Valk is worth the wait and hopefully, you'll be able to look back years from now without wanting to kill the jerks behind this BS! Good luck!

Alias, at least you're smart enough to know what caused your downfall and humble enough to admit it.

I am very sorry for your loss, but it could have been much worse. A lot of us paid $5,000 - $7,000 for our Valks. Imagine losing that amount of money!

Man, I'm sorry to hear that buddy. Mark it down as a lesson learned, and be thankful it wasn't a lot more money. I've blown 2500 bucks on stupid crap before (and probably more). Hell, I know a guy who lost 10k on a custom Harley in very similar circumstances. Anyway, ain't no use in dwelling on it, keep your chin up.

Way sorry ya got burned dude. June 30th i'll have had my phat ghurl for a year. Found her at a car dealer here in mo. Drove about 125 miles-test rode it-bought it-rode it home. I tell you this NOT to rub your nose in it. Furthest thing from rubbing it in. I found a good used valk at a reasonable price and was able to test ride the ACTUAL bike i bought. B T W-got mine for $5800 cash. A lot of times when we get in a big a$$ed hurry-we get bit. What you said about if it's to good etc etc etc. Expensive lesson. Sorry my friend-may not make ya feel any better-but a lot of us have been bit at one time or another. Be patient-there are still REAL deals out there. Take your time and you WILL find the deal you can live with. Sides these big gals are worth WAITIN for. O-k get on with your life-i run up on ya some where-i'll stand ya an adult beverage. 2funny RIDE SAFE.

Yeah thanx......I'm sure the two names I was given and one address are ficticuos. I'm curious why the vin number wouldn't lead somewhere though but surely that can be docotred as well.

I'm not able to sleep.....it's easy to go off track sometimes, I really blew it.....what kind of people live this way though...can't be much of a life.

I think the guy who actually bought it legitemitly is on this board.  I will not divulge this information,  I feel for ya, brother! It really is a nice bike.  tickedoff hoser

No secret, I am the proud owner of the CL scam bike.  I bought it from the dealer who had it on eBay in December and got it for a great price because the CL scam.   I am amazed that another scammer stole the scam from the original CL scammer.  I have added a Memphis Fats and an Ultimate Low Boy since I got it.  Here's a photo of it in my driveway before the upgrades.
