I've a 2000 Vakyrie Standard and there is no illumination on the tach. That makes for a challenge when riding at night. Is there any way to replace the bulb in that, or do I need to get a new tach in order to see the light again?

It's pretty easy.

You'll need to remove the screw at the back of the unit and pull the outer cover.  That should expose the socket holding the bulb.  Pull that socket out of its resting place, remove and replace the bulb and push the socket back into place.

Ditto what Willow said.  Easy to do.

However, while you're in there changing bulbs, you might wanna take a look at upgrading those bulbs to brighter, easier to see and read bulbs.  Here's some threads (with lots of pics) to read up on......

Speaking about bulbs, is there a replacemen that would put out a little mor light for both the speedo and the tach?

A very quick fix as willow said.  Here's two more links with lots of led info.  The tach uses a 194 wedge.

and a mod to allow led's in the turn indicators.
