RJ, that Pecan Pie sounds like heaven in a pan!  The wife and I hit Mayberry Days at Mt. Airy this weekend.  I had a stomach bug, so I did not want any pie, and there was plenty around this weekend.  Angry

Sorry, I was feeling a little poetic.

Need to hit the BRP soon. We were at Hillsville, Virgina and about 2400 ft level. The leaves are already falling off some trees and lots are turning color already. Lots of cooler weather already may have set the change early this year.

We have some trees here in town that have covered the ground under the tree, but you'd never know it came out of the tree as it is still loaded.

Same at my house in VA, holy crap I have filled two 60 gal dumpers so far.  Raining down on the house for two weeks every time the wind blows or it rains, sounds like incoming.  I am under 5 ancient oaks, and going out without a hard hat is risky when they fall 50 feet.  I gotta get the bike out of the shed in back and out to the street pronto.  Course as soon as they are done the leaves come down...... oh joy.

When we moved into this house it had 3 Oaks, a Weeping Willow, 2 Honey Locusts, those little leaves bastards that get into and under thing, and a Elephant eared humongous thing setting on the edge of the driveway.  It had dead crap falling out of it all the time.    It went bye bye when it dropped a small limb on the hood of my 39 Chev Coupe.   Insurance company wanted to total the car.    I told the adjuster to take his offer and shove it up his ass.   Then I called my agent and told him to get involved because I was paying extra insurance for that little girl.

They paid to get it fixed.     Then when we lost it, Rex's Mustang and a bunch of other toys in the garage fire, damn squirrel ate through the electric wire and it shorted out.   His well cooked carcass was still there with his teeth still holding  the wire,  now the wire is under ground.    No squirrel problem now.

It was the same adjuster on the garage fire.     He came in about $3,000 over what the 39 was insured for, I never agrued, I just took it.

Man, I hate those Elephant eared humongous things............  2funny

I have had my old giant oaks professionally trimmed/deadwooded three times in 20 years, but I still get deadwood limbs falling from time to time. The aluminum awning covering the rear basement walkout looks like battle damage.  Have also jolted up out of sound sleep reaching for a pistol when a limb hits the roof over my bed.

When we lived in California on the 10 acres outside of Grass Valley, CA there must have been 50 trees on that acreage.

We were there about 20+ years, and in that time we cut and burned all the trees in our fireplace.

I have always felt we got the coins out of the place due to it being cleared off already, when we sold it after I retired.   Might be wrong, but it sure won't of been the 1st time.   LOL.

Mom always said I was wrong in marrying her instead of her sister.   Told her she was the best deal out of the 2 of them.     Her sister done her damnedest to get my attention when I started dating mom.   Oh well, I think I got the best of the 2 in the deal.     LOL...............    Better not let her read this or I'll be wearing the big ole cast iron skillet tonight.    LOL cooldude cooldude cooldude

RJ, PM me your address and I will send you a bucket of acorns so you can plant your own live oak.  Sounds like gun shots when they hit the roof of the truck backing out of the driveway...  Last year during the drought we had nothing, very little acorns...  They are surely making up for it this year...

Yeah sir I can say that.

Wife works for the Post Office.

I use their service as much as possible.    I start with Post Office & if they  can't ship it, I try Greyhound next, then Fed Ex and as a last resort, the Brown Truck.

Back when I was part owner of the kid's shop we used the Brown Truck, they have almost tripled their shipping fees since then.

I didn't realize you were looking for suggestions.

I suggest:

You go west at some point.
That you have fun.
That you don't have way too much fun.
That you be safe.
That you continue to keep extensive and accurate records of all secretarial candidates where ever they may be and post them so that we can attest to their accuracy.
Eat well.
Take care.
Don't hit any zyzzvyas on your trip. It is a tropical American weevil. And the last word.

I WIN!!!

Here favorite meal is Prime Rib, this Outback has an exceptional Prime Rib.   It is all in the Chef.

We have 2 Outbacks in our area.     The other one can't put out a Prime Rib that you can even chew, let alone swallow.

Don't it figure about them steaks. You have to have the Knack to prep and cook steaks. Not everyone can, I am proof of that. Knew a guy that could always have great tasting and perfect cooked steaks,  always had a job right after he got out of jail.  Yep, he was there a lot!  But the business that hired him always picked up customers, cause he had a following.

I was bitching all day about that rotten Prime Rib last night.

About 4:00 PM the wife told me to get my ass around if we were going out to eat.

Day after our Anniversary, but what the hey .      If I can get a good steak, that I don't have to cook, I'm all for it.

As we were going out the door, wife asked where we were going to eat.    I told her this was her deal to pick a place.  She popped off a couple of places, and I  suggested Texas Roadhouse.   I mean we missed the rush hour crowd by 3 or 4 minutes.   We walked in the door, told her 2 for a table please, she said right this way.     As soon as we were seated the door never got a chance to close till like 6:30 PM.

I ordered Prime, 12 oz, wife ordered Prime 8 oz.    They brought our food.

Cut into the steak and it was real nice and tender.    Yummy also.

Now I'm setting at this PC with a belly ache.

But it was worth the hassle.

Prime rib is the only thing my buddy Harvey will eat at Texas Road House.  He says it is the best prime rib for the price.  He always gets the big boy, 16 oz.  I usually end up ordering for him as a joke.  The wait staff gets a kick out of it.
Glad you and momma got a good steak that you didn't have to cook

If you are not getting Prime Rib, and you are at a steakhouse that puts the steaks in a display case, always, always pick your steak from the display case. They are always better than the ones they get out of the reach-in. Now you just have to learn how to pick the right steak.

Seems like when I pick my own, they pay more attention to the cook requst, rare to {shudder} well done.  When I order Medium-Well, it usually comes nice and brown on the outside and just a hint of pink in the middle. I like them Medium, but if the place is busy, it usually comes a little cool in the middle.

We used to have a pick your steak place in town, but they couldn't make enough $$$$$ to pay the horrendous rent on the building.     A Chinese Buffet has taken over now, They are #9 Occupant, so we see what they do in another 9 months.
