No. I was thinking Canon City. June who is now staying in Salida has a small tank. Not sure who else will be with us with a small tank but trying to limit the number of stops until the group is gathered up. It always seems to take longer at these meeting places than we plan for. Not that there is anything wrong with that unless it's holding up the next meet. Last I heard the riders from up north are coming to my place. We will then meet Hager and whoever else in Canon. From there we will head over to Gunnison. If you want to meet up with Brewer, Mark, and June in Poncha Springs that would be cool. I just think that 10:00 is a little early for the far north riders so I said I would hang back and ride with them. Hager will be in Canon waiting on us.  cooldude

Really lookin fwd to this.  I've just been playing with Pandora after I discovered it loaded on my new blu-ray player.  I have a good stereo on Deerslayer - 400watts, 4 Alpine speakers, pre-amp, mixer.  I can plug it into any source - including my laptop with Pandora loaded on it.  I'll have my laptop along anyway.  Bring along a charger to support the powerful amp, hook up to the motel's wifi and we have any music we want while we're knocking down Markaritas in the parking lot!  Means however FUBAR'd my music taste is in other's opinions, we have PANDORA on tap - with the whole world of music!

I just subscribed to Pandora One (fewer commercials, higher bit rate) and loaded it on my phone, and checked out the tunes with a good headset.  Sounds pretty dang good!  crap-FIRE, first it was flush torlets, and now THIS!!!  AINT THAT A WONDERMENT!!!

BTW - June's Magna hits reserve around 150 or so depending on rpm's she's been running - a bit further than my Valk used to hit reserve before I got the IS tank.  Plus I always carry a siphon tube.  We've used it a handful of times on road trips when I was driving the tanker (Wing) in very remote backcountry.

Timing it just right
Leave COS @ 8:30 arrive in Canon @ 9:30am
- Meet Darby and Josh
Ride to Pocha Springs arriving @ 11:00am
- Meet Mark, June, and Brewer
Ride to Gunnison arriving @ Noon.
- Meet Seth and have Lunch.

That all sounds do able. Maybe give an extra 10-15 minutes at each stop for chit-chat.

I to am excited. I am teaching a 4 day class in Denver. That usually makes the week go by fast. Friday off to get ready.

This will be my first long tour on the Valk. Other than typical overnight items, what should I plan to bring?

Funny you say that, we took the mother in law to Lake City last July 4th.  Great parade.  We rented a jeep and did the Loop.  Even got the shirt.  First time jeeping, and we had a 2 door manual stick.  I think I'm done jeeping.

Oh and Brewer, bring on the mead!  We love it.  We are leaving enough room in the bike for a few bottles of Great Catherine's Spiced.  Only sold in Colorado.  Will trade deer jerky for mead!

What are the plans for Sunday night?  About what time do ya'll plan on rolling in?  As of now, I can only say mid to late afternoon for us.

Seeya soon!

I have not been following this thread, and just popped in today.

I hope while you guys are staying in Lake City that you get the Texans a rental jeep and get them up on the Alpine Loop.

Something they will never forget.   cooldude  T.P.

We prefer the sweeter side of wines/meads.  Like Muscato, honey mead, and even an occasional chocolate "wine".  My drink of choice is rum, myself.

Hit the wear bars, 'sposed to have a new Taxi tar installed tomorrow.  Changed the earl with Mobil 1.  Attacked the fork seal again, seems to be holding.  Seizure all at the city park in Gunnison (just past Mickey D's) Saturday at high noon!

I love the way this is shaping up. After being off work for 4 days I went in to check the rest of my weeks schedule....   CRAP!    I am rescheduled to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. This coupled with an unscheduled visit from a sister from Illinois is going to make it real hard to catch up with
y,all. I am trying to get some shift trades dons so we'll see what happens.

Just got back from a short jaunt, the the bike is running like a well oiled machine.  Literally.  I've jumped back and forth between Rotella T6 and Mobil 1 15-50 several times.  This time the difference in shifting was really noticeable with the Mobil 1 -- much smoother and quieter.  My baby likey!  The Austone needs no break in, two bottles of Ride-On and it's right on.  Smooth, quiet, sticky and good in the twisties.  I'm psyched!

Damn.  That's really  a shock.  Just met the guy.  Nice guy, I GoPro Hero'd him over quite a few miles of our rides, (rode right on his tail to make his image large), in particular Hwy 92, Black Canyon of the Gunnison between Blue Mesa reservoir and Crawford (Joe Cocker's home town).  I think I have on other rides too - Million Dollar Hwy over Red Mtn Pass, Wolf Creek Pass, maybe Slumgullion Pass.  He was riding as well as any of us.

Also made a number of stills of the group bikes and individuals in front of the DSNGRR steam locomotive in Silverton.  Don't recall if he stepped up to his bike for a shot.  Also the group at Lake City this morning, several shots.

I'll check for Darby's shots.  (I have a LOT of video and stills to edit, and ketchup to handle.  Will post when I have results.  Meanwhile I'll find his stuff first.  Maybe some good memories will help in some way, if he gets to view them.)

Best wishes to Darby - hope he pulls through OK and can get back in the wind.
