There was a recent post in about the last 3+ months about just such a thing. Do a search, I'll try too, and add a note.

You can move it back about 1 inch (it does make a difference for the passenger) with a very simple mod. Steel Cowboy and Sixlow have done it. Sixlow posted step by step pictures cause I didn't know how.

Hello guys, thanks for the information, i managed to do the stee cowboy way but i added a piece of steel to use two bolts on the front rail instead of just one to give it more strength and used two nuts as spacers for the rear rail. here some pics, its really easy it took me less than 30 minutes to do everything.
