The grand jury deciding the fate of Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot dead an unarmed black teen this past August, has reached a decision, according to multiple media reports.

Jurors have been deliberating for several weeks whether to charge Wilson with murder for the August 9 shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown. Officials have given word the announcement will be made at 8:00 p.m. local time.

I guess the looting will be by firelight if it's that late.

I think they should have a press conference that starts in the early morning and lasts for several hours. During that time they could lay out the facts and they are understood, recount what eye witnesses have said, and generally go over what the Grand Jury has considered to reach its conclusion. By delaying the actual announcement until the end of the conference it would force the folks to listen. And having to sit and listen for several hours may cause many to think instead of just reacting. Finally, announcing the verdict during daylight hours seems to make more sense than at night when tension flares. Many will not change their minds but they will be haunted by the facts that they hear over the course of that conference. It would also be a great venue for civic leaders to make their case for calm.

A LOT of us get this. The agitators on the other hand only want to raise hell and mayhem and hate and see ONLY what they want to see-truth be cursed. Seen way too many signs calling for life in prison or execution of the police officer. Your idea has a lot of merit. RIDE SAFE.

Doesn't matter when they release the verdict...and probably not even what the verdict is.

The ones that are going to riot don't care when or what. The case is an excuse.

It's enough to give protesters a bad name...

Look at the media attention the riots and threats of future riots has generated.  If they had a nice TEA party type rally, they'd just be called terrorists and maligned by the left.

That sounds like a prudent thing to do....but, as Daniel said below, it doesn't matter what/when the outcome is, they are either going to celebrate/riot/tear stuff up or deny and protest/riot/tear stuff up.

I was watching the C B S feed and after the no indictment was announced some body in the crowd got boisterous and the L E Os led him away. Sounds like a LOT of FALSE testimony was sifted thru and 3 different medical reports. The initial reports of the victim attacking the officer turned out to be fact. Now we have to wait and see whether or not any major cities are plagued by riots due to the decision handed down. I PRAY for no riots-but who knows. RIDE SAFE.

I was watching about five minutes after the annoucement the crowd on the street was getting a little agitated, they must have gotten the word.

the leaks from the GJ tended to lean towords the final verdict and it doesn't come as a surprise to me.

Now we wait to see the response.

Hopefully there will be many advising others to go home and digest every word of the decision.

EDIT.

10.02pm
Local radio has just reported that the liar in chief is about to speak on the subject.

Why should there even be peaceful protests? The liar in chief has just said these are OK.

Protests about what?

The rule of law being adhered to is NOT a valid reason to protest.

Now he's saying that the country needs criminal justice reform.

He's not letting this non crisis go to waste. He's disgusting. Passing himself of as a leader when he's far from being one.

He's so clever at putting forward both sides of the arguement. KNowing that he can rile up both sides.

I didn't hear him say clearly and specifically that EVERYONE should pay heed to the outcome.

What a wasted opportunity he had to be able to calm the Ferguson situation down.

And they-the rioters-have started ransacking buildings and businesses in the Ferguson area.  uglystupid2 The rioters wanted the L E O on a spit over a low fire.  Undecided They wanted THEIR version of justice. Truth has nothing to do with what they think I suppose.  And I fear this will only be the start-no matter what the head douche bag said. RIDE SAFE.

Its been well observed that the trouble makers are largely NOT from Ferguson.  These are imported "idiots" just looking for an excuse to express anger and hatred.  The black citizens of that town do not want the violence (for the most part) Im sure some of the violence is done by locals, but they are not the big problem.

If the locals know that outside agitators are present why don't the locals help law enforcement by identifying them?

So the locals-mostly-aren't the ones befouling their own nests! I was outside a moment ago looking at my lacasa. I would myself have a hard time destroying what I live in. Mayhaps a total stranger would find it easy. I guess if you aren't from that town destroying it would be easier. BUT WHY would the people that live there allow it? RIDE SAFE.

I pulled my last response after I re listened to POTUS speech

Yes it seems that he never misses an opportunity to miss an
opportunity

but he did not fan the flames IMHO

That doesnt mean that behind the scenes he is having his Atty General
do his dirty work just like he screwed texas and arizona over the border
screwed our country over health reform and screwed up Benghazi and on and on
right down to his bungling the Iran nuke and ICBM capability that will send a nuke
over our heads real soon unless we act decisively

God bless America, we need all the blessings we can get these days
