I would have no problem building a fence to keep us from going to the north and them from coming here then a bridge from the Mexican border across Texas to the northern states with free passage for all the illegals

Worked with a Chicago transplant here in Atlanta for 20 yrs. He said the weirdest thing for him was people holding the door for you wheather they be man or woman. You will always get yes ma'am no ma'am, yes sir no sir from my children and grandchildren and from me and I am 68. We might be short a lot of things in the south ( though some one would have to name them for me ) but manners is not one of them. What we need is to stop all the PC crap, realize we are all different . Again, a bit of politeness will go a long way to tamping down trouble. Jm 0.02

It would be a lot less violent with out L.A., Oakland, Baltimore, NYC, Wash DC, Chicago, and Detroit as well. I believe most if not all those areas have been run by Dems for quite some time now. Correct me if I'm wrong.

My buddy said she's gonna tell you where the best F'n BBQ around here is he wasnt use to being able to just walk up and talk with someone I guess

No correction needed ! I have noticed over the years the some peoples social skills have deteriorated. Maybe they didn't have any to begin with. But, I find more rude people as time rolls by and they seem to be everywhere. I still speak and open/hold doors, etc. Most of folks just walk right on through and ignore me when I say 'you're welcome'.

Here southern Louisiana... you don't always get a verbal "Thank You", but you typically at least get a nod & a smile... I guess a Visual "Thank You". (Pretty girls will sometimes even get a slight bow and tip of the hat... with a southern slang "ma'am".) Occasionally, I'll hang back a second to hold the door for someone... they pause and say something to the effect of "Please, thank you, you go first." At which I'll nod or say Thank you... then go first making sure to hold the door a bit wide giving them time to fall in behind me without having to re-open the door. I always thought this was a type of universal politeness. Then I started to travel (both nationally and internationally). Seems that there are few places where this type of behavior is normal.

always...follow the money.....Abe cried like a baby when told it would be $600 million to win the war as per the Constitution all debts had to be paid w/gold or silver and the Union didn't have it so he went to the owners of the world..the Rothschilds...to borrow it....they wanted 30% interest--abe cried some more..they then counter offered to let him--which would be them--print the paper(counterfeit) "GREENBACK"---which in 10 years they would have to paid back in gold for-----so essentially the Union gave a room full of gold for a room full of paper to get 750,000 people killed for what they say was an institution--- that ended all around the world in a 20-30 yr period without a single battle

One murder per 11,800 in Chicago.
One murder per 4,800 in Jackson.
I like the better odds of Chicago myself. No, I dont live there.

What I don't understand is this - If our yankee betters are so convinced that The South is a drain on the nation, a realm of backwoods knuckle dragging Neanderthals, such a horrible place, etc... WHY do they want to remain in a union with us? If we're half as bad as they like to say we are, shouldn't they be working to kick us out of their precious union???

DaveMN - seems you were one of the ones happy as Hell about getting rid of the Confederate flag. How do you like the fact that your own state flag may now have to fall? Seems it has a pic of a white guy working with an Indian in the background holding a spear.

I've never heard of anyone moving north to retire either. Sorry BF, that's a terrible analogy. Not sure what it proves accept the warmer weather down south. I will forget you said that. I was just trying to state facts when it comes to murder rates in large cities. Lots of data on this subject as it is used for government spending and political agendas. I spent time in Chicago 2 years ago. I really enjoyed it, beautiful city (didn't go to bad areas). It's way safer than many cities. I don't have an axe to grind against New Orleans, never been there. But if we are making statements, let's talk about facts. Anyway, here are more crime facts if anyone is interested...... In 2011, the city’s murder rate was less than half that of the cities of New Orleans (57.6/per 100,00), Detroit (48.2) and St. Louis (35.3). Chicago’s homicide rate was also lower than such unremarkable cities as Ft. Myers, FL (31.7) Pine Bluff, AR (24.3), Dayton, OH (23.3) Rocky Mount, NC (20.6), Gulfport, MS (17.6) and Harrisburg, PA (16.1). Although Chicago has a reputation for being a deadly city, a resident’s odds of being murdered there in a given year are about 1 in 6250. By comparison, a New Orleans resident has roughly a 1 in 1750 chance of being killed in a homicide over a twelve month period. Thus, a New Orleans resident is more than three times as likely to become a murder victim in his hometown than a resident of Chicago.

Really?
So the 2,000 murders in Chicago last year isn't violence?
Hypocritical idiots.
Wrong. Chicago had about 500 murders in 2012. 457 last year. You have exaggerated by a factor of 4. New Orleans and Jackson Mississippi had far more murders per capita than Chicago. Just the facts! Thanks. My premise still stands. You have no premise if its statistically not true.

Not news up here at all so that's how I feel. My flag doesn't stand for racism, slavery, bigotry, KKK and treason. Plus, the USA doesn't care if My Flag falls , it sure cared about the "Battle Flag" though didn't it? You still have your flag, just not on the State Capital. Fly it all you want, I won't see it.
