This thread has turned into what I thought it was going to: People getting pissed off  tickedoff  at each other cause everyone is right. Not unlike a bunch of threads anymore  being civil to one another is slowly leaving. Pretty prevelent in this thread alone.

Just my humble opinion, but this happening on this forum is just a reflection of the phenomenon in society at large. Regrettable to be sure, there's no understanding occurring when people are talking at each other instead of to each other.

Yep, just human nature isn't it.

Guilty as charged, so I'll take G-Man's lead and close out.
Ya'll have fun and play nice.

To me it looks like the Pres. succesfully divided the South from the North!
Also, there has been a bit of history that I didn't know about that I picked up on this thread alone. I like that part. Thankfully I remembered most of it......from back when our history was still first and foremost in History class.
And, no matter how you slice it this forum is still one Hell of a lot better than most of the garbage on FaceBook. Comments really get personal over there apparently.
Disclaimer - Not on FaceBook but I hear about the drama there almost every day from the young folks.
So...what to do about it?
Can limit what is posted on here.....that would be limiting free speech and spirited conversation.
Skip the threads that get out of control? Probably a better idea and very easy to do.
Go to Facebook for the VRCC stuff? Hope that does not happen. Apparently it has started already from reading another thread.

Serk makes a good point. People, and that includes me, are pissed off in general. Never mind a topic like the Flag or the South. It's larger than that. Then when some hack writes an inflammatory piece about getting rid of the South it's like throwing gas on a raging fire.

But ya know, through all of it....we have a tie that binds us all. One that not very many are fortunate to have. And that's our beloved Valks (don't mean to get goooey about it, but it's true). And as Kumbaya as it sounds, I think it's true. Families fight, yell, cuss, insult, etc. But in the end it all goes out with the next wash cycle.

I, for one, don't have the time or the energy to stay mad at anyone for very long.

That seems to be true, the 'generally pissed off ' part.  I wonder why.

... At one time in order to vote one had to be free, white, Protestant, 21, male, and own land.

Patrick, could you find documentation for that because I'm pretty sure it's bullshit.

For what it's worth, some of the founding fathers did want to limit the right to vote to those who owned land.  I think it would have been a step in the right direction.  Some of the biggest problems with democracy throughout history have been related to politicians courting the votes of those who are receiving more than from those who are contributing.

Once again.

My apologies.  I didn't realize you were reaching back before the Constitution.  If we go back just a little bit further we could honestly say that at one time no one really got a vote, well no common one at least.   Wink

If I had to Title a thread in a way that I thought would piss off the most people, this one would rank right up there. Just sayin!
The title of this thread is the title of the article BF referenced so not his words don't think he put it here to start a war just giving people something to think about the way others perceive others.
Am I pissed off HELL YES but not about this thread but about the state of our country, am I a rascist? Only if you think me wanting for all able bodied people REGAURDLESS of color to support themselves and quit depending on the few left that don't recieve a Government subsidie to pay for them to live.
Never held anything against a man because of his color but have for his ethics.

Exactly.  My point in posting that piece was to inform to what it seems is what more and more of the country thinks of us....and just how bigoted the left and the rest of the country has become.

The thread(s) are usually civil until one or more certain liberals on this board start posting...not to stir the pot, but to be as intentionally inflammatory and derogatory as possible.  And then in it seems.....
