Pittsburgh carried the play in both overtime periods; I beileve that the Senators were tired and that their coach, Boucher, had them in a scheme to try and counter the Penguins if the situation arose.

Anderson was screened on two of the three goals that got by him; the winner he didn't pick up at all as his forward was about 15 feet out and cut his view of the puck about halfway from where Kunitz let it go.

Now it's Pittsburgh vs. Nashville.  Gotta hope that Nashville's speed can hold up for seven games if they can take it that far.  Otherwise it's Penguins in five.  Rinne and his defense are the keys to any success that they'll have over seven; he's gotta come up huge against a pretty deep opponent.

Two really good coaches.  I'll have to give the edge to LaViolette.

Wanting a good final, sadly the job now interferes with watching the first game.  Angry

I'd like to see PJ Suban get his name on the cup.

Of course, I'd like to see it now, now that he's not wearing the red/white maple leaf.   Smiley

I always thought of him as a showboater diver type.

But I understand he is a great "Fan" player and also donated huge $$$ and time to children's charities, when he was in Montreal.

Montreal Canadiens crest is not a maple leaf, it is a CH sporting the rouge, blanc, et bleu team colors. Represents "Le Club de hockey Canadien."
Canadiens fans will not forgive the management for dealing him for Weber; it'll prove to be a bad trade over time. Angry

Tim Horton, one of the strongest men to ever play the game, just stood up anyone coming his way, separated them from the puck and skated off with it; the era when defencemen pretty much stayed back and home, had that heavy wicked shot.  Died tragically and unnecessarily. HOF. Smiley
George Armstrong, Dave Keon, Frank Mahavolich, Johnny Bower, Darryl Sittler, and the one and only EDDIE SHACK....I could go on for pages.
Matthews kid is gonna lead that team for a long time and they have great management in Lamoriello and Babcock to strategize.

Game Two on deck!  Who do you like?  Couldn't watch the first one, but Nashville did come back from three down over two periods.  Think they'll change anything up and try to get a jump in period one?

Actually Nashville started really strong last game. Got a couple penalties and went downhill. I'm pulling for the Predators.  cooldude

I'm pulling the the Preds as well.

The officials gave Pittsburgh the last game, in my opinion.

The goal call back was bogus, as was the penalties called on Nashville, especially the second one.

Maybe, there have been some bad calls for sure. But in fairness, with the speed of the game it's tough to be an official.

He had a tough game alright, but I wouldn't say he's falling apart.  One goal on a skate deflection from his defenceman and the other squeeked through a hole between his glove hand and thigh (he had the post closed off).  Yeah, three goals in three minutes, not good.  Nashville lost both games and now have a big hill to climb back home.  Gotta win game three or it's pretty well over.

Nashville claws it's way back in it.  Rinne solid and that third goal with about 20 seconds left in the second period was devastating for the Penguins.  Nashville didn't let up on them the whole third period.

Have a feeling that Fleury will be in net Thursday at Pittsburgh.
Penguins need a change and a steadier hand at the tiller.  Fleury over the (almost) rookie. Cool

Had to switch the channel after the 5th goal; Pittsburgh just smoked'em from the drop of the puck.
Nashville had no chance last night and Rinne was only human against the hurricane for the first four.
Picked it up with three minutes left in the 3rd and hoping to find that Nashville wasn't gonna be shut out.
Nope, they got canned. uglystupid2

Fans go home sad but proud of the Predators for their run; they get to see the Cup and hope for the future.

I see in the box score that Nashville had four power plays with a short 5 on 3.  They had their chances then, I was rooting for them and so better luck next year.
I think that that Guentzel kid or Murray should have gotten the Conn Smythe, he scored some big goals for the Pens throughout the playoffs and Murray shut the door when necessary.
Yes, finally saw the replay.  The Preds definitely got cheated out of that goal, bad call.
