For this whole mess, I prefer to quote the wise words of a bigger man, a true American hero:

Feel we should it the way Australia and Scotland handle immigration. Ask what the person will be adding to the country, do they speak the language and will they be able to support themselves. I know, I know I am a racist for saying this, but all I am looking at is improving the country. The countries needs have changed since my grandfather came here. Now this being said we also have to make allowances for a number refugees also. |

Interesting perspective on Norway vs U S of A. When I was in high school I was near two different families that had immigrated from Norway. Things may have changed on the past fifty years.
As to how we see things, people will generally choose to hear (or read) what they want to hear even if they have to seriously twist what was said.

My wife and her uncle went out to run a errand. I was watching FOX news. Her aunt asked me "how can you watch that". I told her "its the only media outlet that gives me the truth". With that said. Fast forward to 2014. We are visiting again. I am relaxing in the guest room when I hear " so and so FOX news contributer". I walk out and asked Jerry when he started watching FOX. He told me they backed Obama both times but since Obamacare took effect their granddaughter lost her Healthcare. It was obvious to him that Obama lied. They both backed Trump 100%. I know I know. They were never real Democrat's. That's your montra. Any dem who would dare vote for the GOP is not a real dem. On a humorous note. He told my wife once that the only thing he found wrong with me was that I was conservative. I took that as a complement. Oh by the way Baldo. You never answered my question. How did she lose.? |

He doesn't take crap off of anyone and doesn't act like a president is supposed to act as befitting the office. He spouts off before knowing the facts and then changes his mind. He treats the 'respected" Halls of Congress, and it's inhabitants like enemies. He pisses people off and while they're busy castigating him , he works on his promises to the American public. He has raised hope and is getting rid of the previous POTUS changes. He has improved the economy and put us first again. Last, but not least, he respects our Armed Forces and is doing what he can to find the dough to rebuild them (I know this for a fact, not through the media) Short conclusion: I'm for him in spite of his rough edges. Anyone who thinks that he's nuts is ignoring his acumen as a businessman. |

My gosh, this thread is on page 3. There is an awful lot of assuming here about Trump. Maybe I can sum it up. Of course, this is my own opinion so results may vary. He tweets too much. He doesn't take crap off of anyone and doesn't act like a president is supposed to act as befitting the office. He spouts off before knowing the facts and then changes his mind. Saying the word “crap” is not the issue. I’m sure you both can grasp that. What is the issue then meathead? It surley can't be the racist remarks you claim because this is not a race issue. Did it ever occur to you that he was talking about these countries government? Or the fact we dont need more people here we have to take care of? Maybe you can open your home up to some of these people and board and feed them if you think it is such an issue. But I doubt you will, you just want us to take care of them. |

One is a story of the Libyan revolution going south and Obama putting some of the blame on PM Cameron. The other is a story of Trump not wanting refugee immigrants from Haiti and Africa but wanting immigration from Norway. The only correlation I see between the 2 is they both used the word crap in describing it. |

Let’s look a two island nations, Haiti and Hawaii. I know Hawaii is a state but was not always so. Can anyone tell me which place you would most like to spend your next vacation? Ok, Ok I know that’s racist. Let’s assume your black/dark brown skinned, where would you want to spend your next vacation? am I getting anywhere with this analogy? Ok, Ok let’s say you don’t like either destination, how about a week on the south side of Chicago?

IMHO a better comparison is Haiti and The Dominican Republic. Same island. Same people. One is a shithole. The other is a vacation destination. |

Did more research and I stand corrected... Still the comparison stands, same island, two VERY different standards. I know which one I'd be willing to vacation on and which one I wouldn't. From Wikipedia: The ethnic composition of the Dominican population is 73% mixed, 16% white, and 11% black; 95% of the Haitian population is black. |

Not only that, how much you want to bet that the DR is not wide open to Haitian immigration. (legal or illegal) For the same reason we shouldn't. The DR deports illegals, just like we should. |

I honeymooned in the Dominican Republic, punta cana to be exact. Yes it is a tourist destination but the people there were very friendly. I know I'm now racist for calling the dominican people nice.  |
