OEM Rotors

I've read alot of comments on OEM rotors with OEM brake pads as to wear if mixed with after marklet rotors. I am the second owner of a 97 Standard and I know the front rotors are OEM as per a picture on a Honda pamphlet from when the bike was first introduced. Can someone post a picture of a rear rotor or even a description of one?
Being new to this forum I replaced my rear pads with OEM and read all the comments about after market rotors should not be used with OEM pads and vice versa.
The rotor on the rear looks totally different from ones on the front.

You are right. The rear rotor differs very much from the front ones. I doubt that it would have been changed.

Thanks for the quick response. My rear rotor looks exactly like the picture so I should be OK.

What a wealth of info on this site. I've been trying to read all the posts and have picked up a lot of helpful information.

Be aware that there are some Honda dealers that sell aftermarket brake pads in place of oem without revealing that fact to their customers.

EBC pads will work on any of them, I have not heard of not being able to use after market pads ...I use EBC after market on mine! matter of fact ,I just installed front pads 2 weeks ago and they are fine. just my 2 cents. oh yeah, mine is a 98 ,bought it new.in 98. goooood day all, and GOD BLESS....EBC sinterd.from Jake Wilson......

If you've found posts on this subject from Valkpilot, this will be repetitive.

If you haven't found his posts, they go something like this:  Do NOT mix Honda & EBC brake pads and rotors.  EBC pads will eat Honda rotors.  EBC rotors will eat Honda pads.

EBC rotors are trash so are the pads..They oxidize over night... Oem only way to go, if you want stop before the 80 year blue haired old lady backs out of her drive way on her way the the beauty parlor and forgots to look both ways...

Petevenne!  It seems that different people often get different results.  Here is my 2 cents worth of exp[erience.  I have a '97 Tourer with 227K on the clock.  About 10 years back (about 120K miles), I replaced my rear rotor with an EBC, because of the price of an OEM.  I continued to use only OEM pads. About 4 years ago I replaced both front rotors with EBC's and again I've continued to use only OEM pads.  I've never had a squeel or excessive wear, rust or a corrosion problem.  Apparently, I'm not too hard on them, as the rotors are still in good condition after several sets of pad replacements.    Just another 2 cents to consider.

Coorosion may vary depending on what part of the country you live in, if you avoid riding in the rain ,etc

Exactly what happened to my front OEM rotors, EBC pads ate them in about 3 years of using EBC pads.  I replaced my OEMs with GoldWing 1800 units (found in ShopTalk), put on OEM pads, and they still look like new after about 3,000 miles.  YMMV...

EBC Kevlar pads properly bedded in will give good results.

I've also had great results with "Dunlopads" on the rear of my I/S.

I have used EBC organic pads a few times, and to be honest,  I have not found any abnormal wear, always measured within tolerance.  Hoser
