You can see  by the  right of  the  cattle  that hasn't  been brush hogged  yet.
And  I  need  more  gear oil just about went through that gal !

Two miles is impressive.  Not necessarily the distance but the landscape allows you to do that safely.

I could walk to town if I wished (my wife did it until I retired and we got a little older).   It's only a mile one way.  The only issue is that there is only a sidewalk for the first 1/2 mile.  And, while the road is 35 MPH and in reasonably good shape, I have found that there are a few drivers that don't respect those on the shoulder.

Today, I was mowing the grass along the road in front of our house with my riding lawn mower.  I generally mow in the same direction as traffic to keep clippings off the roadway.  Several cars passed my by, giving me a wide birth (were in the lane next to me).  But one large pickup truck did not seem to care and only gave em about two feet distance.  So....

I walk my big neighborhood every morning about 2.5 miles.

We have about 2/3 sidewalks throughout, but not everywhere.  Many places the sidewalk just stops mid street, or is only on one side of the street.

It's 25mph speed limit everywhere (like all neighborhoods).

Since Covid and the abandonment of virtually all traffic enforcement, the neighborhood has turned into the Indy 500 with people flying around at 40-50-even 60 mph.  You take your life in your hands walking the streets with no walks.  Some cars will give you wide berth, and some will give you 10 inches.  So I have routes that pretty much keep me on sidewalks the whole time.

The thing is, a good deal of the sidewalks are old and cracked and heaved up and can be hazardous to your ankles, knees and hips, and the streets are all nice and new and flat.  But staying on the sidewalks is better than getting hit by a car or truck doing 50.

Had some excitement yesterday.  Some large breed dog got off it's leash and took off and tore the hell out of some other dog.  I didn't see it but some lady frantically told me about it.  We followed a large and fresh blood trail for better than a quarter mile.  Intermittent spurts, like the heart pumping out the blood every 8 to 12 feet.

Some dog gets nasty with me I'm gonna put him down with my .380 (and damn the torpedoes).  I like animals, but I don't like aggressive dogs.  That's why there are leash laws.  Strict liability for aggressive dog owners is the way.

My experience is that lots of big dogs are very good natured and many small/high strung ones will bite you if they get a chance (Chihuahuas come to mind).  I might not shoot one of those, but I will kick a field goal with it.

Just bears  deer , fox, and  the other  critters  'Yotes and  we  use  to have  red Wolves, but  the  10 breeding pairs  that were  released  back in 09, Have  pretty much been shot, or  snared.. Kind  of  sad  as  we  did  get to see  1  pair  back in 2010 IICR.. And  it was  a real treat to hear a  howl in VA. !

Tracy, some of this pyrotechnic driven pepper spray is pretty disabling to any deserving soul.

And is not considered a firearm.

I am still amazed by the tasks you preform and the way you describe them..

Very, very impressive.

Me, I am just in the process of replacing some hand rails.

Lots of rails and this time I am going to try and do it right.

Oh, they are all just pressure treated pine, stained and sealed.

That's  great !  cooldude
I need some  porch work badly.. one  area you can feel the  boards sagging
At least it's  NOT the  main area..

I'm getting behind on other  tasks..
2 yr.old Desk top went belly up  now  using an old laptop. She's slow  but working.
Things  are just falling down around  me, or  breaking down..

I walked in the  kitchen 4 days ago and  the  floor was soaking wet. Fridge, is  very unstable.
I  have  a  back up , but that needs a paint job. Have  3  new  rattle cans
But food stuff has to come  first..
A  friend  calls  and  said  please come  and  pick some  grapes, and  other  fruits..
I did  the  grapes  yesterday, I was going to pick the  other  on Sat, but weather  is  rolling in so now  I  must push it up..
So all kinds  of  jams  the  next few days.

Still trudging away , Not happy but doing it...

Thanks Valkorado  angel

I did  the  apples and  other fruit yesterday, Dang did  that wear me  out, And i forgot my gloves!
They don't have  a tall picker.
I do, so I extended my picker way up. over 25' And  got some fruit up high.
To help the limbs  with heavy loads in case  we get strong winds. I  hope it helped the trees, of course I  didn't make  a  dent, but I'm sure it helped, as I could see the limb go up. Instead of the  droop.
Picked 3 bushels total of mixed apples pears, peaches.

Well back to the  kitchen..

Understandable.  Lyrics from an old Eagles song come to mind.

And so he traveled along, touch your heart, then be gone
Like a flower, he bloomed till that old hickory wind
Called him home

My man's got it made
He's gone far beyond the pain
And we who must remain go on living just the same
We who must remain go on laughing just the same...

Know your man would be so proud of your strength and perseverance.

I painted  the  shop fridge. and  got  Fender Mender .
Swapped the 2  fridges for  me.
The one  in the  house  ran all the time  and leaked  daily.
I was just lucky enough to have  an extra fridge..

I think it  looks  great , better than the  funky tan colour it was.
