I heard they were going to give a decision 11/24/2014, today, at 9:00 PM.

Did that happen?        I searched around a little bit on the I'net, but didn't find anything.

Did they announce a decision?

Have a good SAFE Turkey Day.

You have to inject a little levity in this situation or blow a gasket. One of the shoppers could have
taken much more. He had all he could carry with his right hand while using the other one to hold his
                       pants up as he ran.

Based on a review of the evidence, this was an EASY no-charges-against-officer case.  Suspect (not innocent passerby) does a strong arm robbery that is reported, officer sees he fits the description, does his job, suspect attacks repeatedly (and goes for officer's gun) and gets shot repeatedly.  It didn't even need to go to a grand jury.

Under the circumstances, an officer is not required to keep his piece holstered and engage in hand to hand combat (or we'd have no officers) (and this officer had no idea if suspect was armed).

Protesters scream for justice, well a full investigation was conducted and justice was given.  (Under DOJ scrutiny.)

Some of the MSM other network coverage is pretty disgraceful, actually worse than usual.  Fanning the flames.  I have the distinct impression that if there weren't a dozen networks filming live on scene, the amount of destruction would diminish.

This burning and looting could be stopped (with lethal force), but I guess since Rodney King the decision has been made to allow rioters to burn and loot and just contain it.  Other networks ask... where are the firetrucks?  Over 100 shots have been fired.... why risk any fireman's life? (I agree).  Let it burn, and never rebuild.

The texting-driver-kills-motorcyclist stories we have discussed in the past had better facts for criminal manslaughter charges than this case.

RIOTS AGAIN !

Gee, what a surprise. This was handled by a bunch of amateurs.  Where were the beanbag guns, nonlethal ammo and fire hoses.  Soak then down and let them shiver.

This was perpetuated by our administration with their stupid actions[ I consider sharpton  part of the admin now since he has become an obama adviser]

Very sad when the law is no longer respected and allowed to be acted upon. A thug dies, shot by police for brutalizing a police officer, riots happen that destroyed small businesses, property, hurt people and life savings may have gone down the tube and no one is held responsible. How sad. This does also not mention the officer does his job and his life is put under a microscope and hes not given a good job or apologized to for what has happened and may happen in the future. Justice weeps today for the corruption of things, from the White house to the local pd. There is rioting in the streets because these people feel their kind did not get a fair shake in this deal, well what about us?

Al Sharpton and his for-profit business owe more than $4.5 million in current state and federal taxes, according to a New York Times report out Tuesday.
His tax liabilities come despite making a hefty salary, and he and his nonprofit advocacy organization, National Action Network, have been missing payments to hotels, landlords and travel agencies, the report says.
Sharpton has been a regular face in New York and Washington political circles. The report points out that President Barack Obama has raised money for Sharpton's group, and that Sharpton attended the recent announcement that Loretta Lynch would be the White House's pick to be the next Attorney General.
Sharpton has said he's paying back the money, thanks in part to help from more donations to his organization. He said he also lent money to the group, and didn't take a salary at times.

Now he's saying that the country needs criminal justice reform.

He's right.  The reform should start with holding criminals, including the protesters that are looting and roiting, accountable for thier actions.  If they are seen in the act, shoot, save us the cost of a trial.  The reform should include punishing law breakers, especially illegal aliens, deport them and let them follow the legal process for entering this once great country.  Also the black population needs to understand that it is not racist for the legal system to function as written.  They need to understand there are consequences to breaking the law, no matter what race you happen to be.

Obama and his administration are the undoing of most of the civilrights movement's accomplishments.

Why???

Why not?  It serves his purpose.  He said he was going to be the post racial president.  He "won't rest" until races have been completely separated.

The race baiter's lamented over the mayor bringing in the national guard so he pulled back and ......... sure enough, there were riots, innocent business people lost their livelihoods, the divide between police and community is widened, and race relations suffer another blow.  Sharpton says "We lost the battle but we won't lose the war".  What's the fight?  I guess there were still a few stores that needed looting and burning and then the war will be won.

Now the idiots are trashing their own neighborhood and looting local business's.

Game on. Police, do what you need to do to clear the streets.

They richly deserve what is about to happen.

Its been well observed that the trouble makers are largely NOT from Ferguson.  These are imported "idiots" just looking for an excuse to express anger and hatred.  The black citizens of that town do not want the violence (for the most part) Im sure some of the violence is done by locals, but they are not the big problem.

If the locals know that outside agitators are present why don't the locals help law enforcement by identifying them?

Because too many in the black community have been brainwashed by those like Sharpton, Holder, and yes, even Obama that their lives are so hard because of people who have a different skin color and the businesses are owned by people of those other skin colors and they are just exploiting you and taking your money, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I DO NOT know the L E O or that young man that died. In Missouri you are an adult at 18. Things change dramatically when you become a young adult as far as the law is concerned. Had that young man NOT robbed that store. Had that young man FIRST listened to the officer. Had that young man NOT showed out in front of his "friend". Had that young man NOT attempted to get the L E Os weapon. Had his "friend" NOT lied initially. THAT young man might have been in jail BUT he would have been alive. I gathered MY impressions from what I've read and heard from "news" reports. But after the over night reports about Ferguson I'm thinking some folks STILL did not want the TRUTH. What I'm truly curious about is this-if the victim were a white 18 year old and the L E O was a man of color would we have had riots and such like? Flame suit is on. RIDE SAFE.

Kudos to my brother-da prez-for this idea that WAS NOT implemented and should have been. Dye pellets with a dye that sticks around for a couple of weeks even with repeated washings. Pepper the rioters with the dye and even weeks later they could be picked up and tried.  :cooldude: We also discussed why the fire trucks weren't used. Squad car-50-60000 dollars. Fire truck-half a mil or more. BUT I also agree the rioters should have gotten a water bath. At last nights temps I believe they would have headed home rather early.  Course we can talk about this all we want-WILL NOT change anything that has happened or will happen. RIDE SAFE.

Not everyone in the family wanted peace:

In the video, Brown's stepfather, Louis Head – wearing a green-and-white T-shirt with the words "I Am Mike Brown" – comforts the sobbing McSpadden. Then he turns and shouts, gesturing at his surroundings, "Burn this (expletive) down."

I haven't seen the video.

I ask the looters and arsonists, so what have you accomplished?

Demonstrated injustice in America to blacks?  (But there was no injustice in THIS case)

No, you have simply reinforced by your lawless, irrational and violent behavior all the worst stereotypical, racist, prejudicial bias in America that you wish did not exist and claim is unfair.  So violent rioting should make racial profiling go away?  Make people love their fellow man regardless of race?  Make policeman treat black criminals differently (more carefully) than everyone else?

How does this make black lives better or improve race relations in America?

Our legal system is among the fairest in the world.

While there are differences, the similarities to the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman case is striking in use of deadly force against an all out assault (without weapon) and in terms of fallout.  George the white Hispanic was a private citizen and politics forced a trial (and acquittal), officer Darrin Wilson (a good cop by all reports) was in the performance of his duties as LE and a trial was rightfully found to be unnecessary.  In both cases, the race of the assailant/deceased was made out (and whipped up) to be a political issue, but it wasn't a political issue, it was just a criminal issue, and resolved correctly in accord with the law.

If you launch an all out physical assault on someone (though unarmed), and esp if you are a big(er) guy, you can be shot with a firearm in lawful self defense.  It's simple really, don't launch all out assaults on people and you won't be shot (regardless of race, creed, or color).

Each man born to this world has only one way to get respect from his fellow man........... earn it!

QuoteUnder federal law, a riot is a public disturbance involving an act of violence by one or more persons assembled in a group of at least three people. Inciting a riot applies to a person who organizes, encourages, or participates in a riot. It can apply to one who urges or instigates others to riot. According to 18 USCS § 2102 "to incite a riot", or "to organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on a riot", includes, but is not limited to, urging or instigating other persons to riot, but shall not be deemed to mean the mere oral or written (1) advocacy of ideas or (2) expression of belief, not involving advocacy of any act or acts of violence or assertion of the rightness of, or the right to commit, any such act or acts."

It seems to me everybody is using the phrase "unarmed" rather loosely. A person does not have to be armed with a weapon to be a deadly threat. True enough deadly force should be a last resort but if Brown would have knocked the officer unconscious, who is to say Brown would not have taken his weapon and shot the officer. As a veteran police and member of a Special Response Team an officer has to defend himself and his weapon but then has the fine line of using to much force which all occurs in split seconds. I was not there, but unarmed does not mean undeadly.
Then the prez gets on the television  and ask for calm in Ferguson. It is clear the rioters could care less about the law and order and justice and I don't think begging for calm to a bunch of lawless thugs will work. Handle the problem stop letting the lawless people destroy a town and cause injury to citizens. If the rioters were an invasion team from another country, burning and stealing and fighting they would be met by armed forces who would match force with force. Both the thugs or invaders could care less about the town or its people. And chances are the invaders from an outside country would meet there match turn tail and run. Its a crying shame the thugs in Ferguson have disgraced the very country they live in and its a bigger disgrace the justice system allowed it to happen.

Just my two cents worth. Its just my opinion and by no means do I want to stir the pot more or cause problems on the board.
